Students` petition to make up for nursing program hours must be submitted within 7 days of the missed hours. If a student does not meet the 7-day requirement, they should contact the Director of Nursing and Paramedics to discuss options. Challenge Credit For the applicant whose previous education and experience indicate a related or equivalent pathway, the faculty gives the student the opportunity to question equivalent courses. The process must be completed before the start of the module for which credit is requested. In accordance with the clinical agencies used by Yuba College, a student is excluded from participation in clinical rotations and therefore cannot enroll in Yuba College nursing programs for the following substantive examination results: Petition Process The Department of Nursing provides all students with a process by which the student can resolve a problem or decide on an application. This process allows all problems to be outside the scope of normal procedures. Petitions are put to the vote every month before the Faculty of Paramedics. Petitions are decided once a month (perhaps longer if they are received in June/July). Once the petition is voted, the person will be notified of the decision within 10 business days by email to their @go email from the Yuba College student. Framework for Program Organization Our framework is based on the nursing process, nursing skills, and academic outcomes that facilitate the integration of information relevant to patient care and care. The curriculum and course order evolve from simple to complex knowledge and skills with an emphasis on care, problem solving, and critical thinking. We believe that there are philosophical values that are crucial and inherent in nursing and nursing education, which should be the foundation on which educational experiences are structured. Person – Each person is unique with physiological, psychological, social, cultural, developmental and spiritual needs that are in constant interaction with the environment. Health Continuum – A state of dynamic equilibrium maintained by lines of defense on a continuum between optimal function or well-being and changes in function or disease. Health is influenced by lifestyle and harmful stressors. Environment – The environment interacts dynamically with the person, care and health and consists of internal and external factors that affect the individual. Nursing – Nursing is the protection, promotion and optimization of health and skills, the prevention of disease and injury, the facilitation of healing, the relief of suffering through the diagnosis and treatment of human response, and advocacy in the care of individuals, families, to groups, communities and populations (American Nurses Association). It is an applied science based on the principles of biological, physical and behavioral sciences, with regard to the diagnosis and treatment of human responses to real and potential health problems.

Nurses work with members of the care team and respond to client care throughout the life cycle, based on a person`s physiological, psychological, social, cultural and spiritual needs. Care process – The nursing process serves as a mechanism by which knowledge related to health, human needs and care skills can be applied. It provides the framework for transmitting the application of theoretical knowledge to the individual client. The nursing process is used in the roles of care provider, communicator, nursing manager, teacher or lawyer, and practicing member of the profession. Although the entire program is based on being a caregiver, specific learning is required to become proficient as a beginner in other nursing roles. Each course in the program deals specifically with the topic related to nursing roles. Safety – The professional and legal duty of care is not to cause harm. Inherent in providing quality care to a person is the concept of safe practice as a nurse. All nursing curricula, visions, missions, philosophies, and instruction use patient safety as the guiding paradigm. Education – Education is a dynamic and synergistic process of information exchange between individuals that leads to behavior change. Education respects the student as an individual and recognizes that each student has different educational, experiential, cultural, spiritual, economic and social backgrounds with a unique support system.

The objective of the training is to develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills in a positive and innovative environment that moves from initial (simple) to advanced (complex) skills. Teaching/Learning – Nurse Instructors are responsible for using sound pedagogical practices and theoretical concepts to present relevant knowledge and skills that reflect current health practices and facilitate student achievement at the highest level. Recognizing differences in individual needs, learning styles, ethnicity and cultural background is an essential part of effective teacher-learner interactions. Any student who does not make up for a clinical laboratory experience or absence from a clinical institution will automatically receive a poor grade for the nursing course. Note that some clinical experience is not available for catch-up due to configuration or time constraints. Once students graduate from Yuba College, the Nursing Department will continue to request assessment information for students as practitioners. .
